Description

The plant is more noticeable during fruiting and during the winter when the burs have turned brown-black. Very common in vineyards, olive groves and along roadsides.

Flowers

Flowers are hardly noticeable, male flowers are on the stem tips, female flowers in the leaf axil.

Leaves

Deltate triangular leaf with stem on one side, Cordate heart-shaped. Triangular to heart-shaped, alternate, rough, coarsely toothed.

Fruits Seeds

Bur: turning brown-black with age.

Fruit: to treat respiratory problems, rheumatism, lumbago.
