Dog Violets are without scent.

Flowers

The flowers are pale violet, 5-petalled. The central lower petal has dark violet markings, the 2 lateral petals have white hairs. The spur is the same colour as the flower, or a deeper violet colour.

Cordate heart-shaped. Basal rosette: heart-shaped, serrated, noticeable central vein.
