Description

Viburnum tinus is a common shrub in our area, in light woodland, hedges and cultivated in gardens.

Flowers

Flowers are pink in bud, turning into dense rather flattened white heads, sometimes flushed with pink.

Leaves

Ovate leaf is egg-shaped, wider at base. Egg-shaped, opposite on the stem, leathery, dull green, pointed.

Fruits Seeds

Drupe: outer fleshy part surrounds a pit with a seed inside, blue-black metallic in colour, 6-8 mm.

Medical

Leaves: as an infusion to lower temperature and reduce fever.
