Rosemary and Thyme are the most common herbs in our area.

A small, woody, much branched evergreen shrub, covered in tiny dark green leaves which are slightly hairy and pointing downwards.

Flowers

Flowers pale pink, in clusters, scented.

Leaves

Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass, Elliptic oval leaf. Linear to oval, grey-green, densely packed along the stem, 5 mm long. Leaves are all the same size.

Fruits Seeds

Nut: 4 small nuts at the base of the flower.

Edible

Leaves: important culinary herb, one of the herbs in ‘Bouquet Garni’.

Medical

Leaves: aid digestion, antiseptic, have a stimulating effect on the nervous system, relax spasms.
