An orchid of damp meadows and open fields, to be found from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic.

A tuberous perennial.

Flowers

A slender orchid, with 2-9 flowers and a horizontal greyish-lilac hood. Lip bends downwards, colour varies from red to violet, occasionally whitish or yellowish. with a single black lump at the base.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Long, wider in the middle, pointed, grey-green.
