Description

A semi-parasite, very hairy.

The hairy sepals and bracts are yellowish-green. The dry seeds inside the capsule make a rattling sound, hence the common name, Hairy Yellow Rattle. Damp, calcareous soil.

Flowers

The flowers arise from the pale green leaf axil at the top of the stem. The flower has two lips, the upper lip has on either side a blue tooth (2mm).

Leaves

Elliptic oval leaf, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Oval to long, wider in the middle, pointed and serrated.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: dry, splits open when ripe, 8-12 mm.
