Description
Previously known as Scilla autumnalis.
Not a bulb but a corm, which is a rounded underground storage organ consisting of a swollen stem covered with scale leaves. Leaves are absent at flowering time.
Dry grassy and rocky areas, fields and roadsides.
Flowers
Flowers are pale to deep lilac, star-shaped, with stalks, borne in racemes of up to 20 flowers.
Leaves
Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. 3-12 narrow basal leaves, 0.5-3 mm wide, hairless, grooved in the middle. Normally absent by time of flowering.
