Description
The name ‘veris’ means ‘truly’, the name ‘Primula’ means ‘of spring’.
Undisturbed grassy habitats.
Flowers
Deep yellow flowers with orange base, grouped in umbels and drooping to one side.
Leaves
Elliptic oval leaf. Rosette, oval, undulated, 2-6 cm wide, 5-20 cm long.
Fruits Seeds
Capsule: containing the seeds.
Edible
Flowers can be added to salads. In England, the flowers were, and perhaps still are, collected to make cowslip wine.
Medical
Flowers and roots: internally for bronchitis, dry cough and whooping cough.
