Description

Open woodland, dry and stony hedgerows. In the same family as Polygala myrtifolia, another introduction from South Africa frequently seen at the coast.

Flowers

Racemes of 10-40 pink, blue, or rarely white, flowers. Each flower has 3 true petals joined at the base. The lower keel petal is fringed at the tip, with the stamens sitting within the curve of the keel.

Leaves

Spatulate broad end of the leaf tapers to the point of connection with the plant stem, Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Lower leaves broad at the tip, tapered at the base, upper leaves long, wider in the middle, pointed.
