Description
A hairy, mat-forming plant which spreads by layering.
It contains a compound called ‘umbelliferone’, often used in sunscreen lotions.
Flowers
Flowers are light yellow in colour, with toothed petals.
Leaves
Elliptic oval leaf. Long, with long hairs and a prominent central vein.
Fruits Seeds
Achene: a cluster of 1-3 seeded fruit, 3 mm, with hairs.
Medical
Whole plant: once used to treat jaundice. A bitter, antibiotic herb that is a diuretic and expectorant, promotes healing, relaxes spasms and reduces inflammation.
