Native to rocky limestone areas in south-west Europe.

Flowers

Attractive, spiky, violet-blue flowers.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Oblong, wider in the middle, pointed. Basal leaves usually withered away by flowering time; stem leaves often with incurving teeth.
