Description

Angustifolia means ‘narrow-leaved’. An evergreen shrub with grey bark.

Grows in lightly wooded areas.

It is a useful substitute for Buxus for hedging.

The greenish-white flowers grow in short bunches in the leaf axil.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Long, pointed, narrow, entire or serrated, opposite on the stem with very short stalks, 8 cm.

Fruits Seeds

Drupe: outer fleshy parts surround a shell with a seed inside, blue-black, 6-8 mm.

Medical

Leaves: used locally in the form of a poultice to treat headaches, as a diuretic and to reduce fever.
