Description

This parasite has no chlorophyll of its own and gets its nutrients by tapping into the root of a host plant. It flourishes on the roots of the bean family and is considered a pest in the commercial cultivation of beans. The plant is yellowish brown.

Flowers

A dense flower spike, fragrant. The flowers are two-lipped, often with violet veining.

Leaves

Scales leaves resemble green scales e.g. Cupressus, Juniperus. Scale-like as on Cypress conifers, brown, 25 mm.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: numerous seeds.
