Description

A tuberous perennial with enlarged underground structures for storage of nutrients.

Flowers

5 to 12 flowers on a spike. Lateral sepals are spread outwards, central sepal and the 2 petals form a hood. The lip has 3 lobes, the central lobe lighter with purple spots. The spur is turned upwards, slightly swollen towards the tip.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. A basal rosette, long, pointed, often with brown or purple spots.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: numerous seeds.
