Garigue, open woodland, calcareous soils. A tuberous perennial with enlarged underground structures for storage of nutrients.

Flowers

A conspicuous orchid with its broad yellow border. The 3 green sepals are oblong to oval, 10-14 mm, the central one curving forwards. The greenish-yellow petals are half the length of the sepals and are triangular in shape. The lip is brown with a shiny bluish-grey speculum.

Leaves

Elliptic oval leaf, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. 3-5 basal leaves, oval to long, wider in the middle, pointed; 2-3 smaller stem leaves, narrower than the basal leaves.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: numerous seeds.
