Description

A half-parasite, when no host plant is available it remains small. A much-branched plant with purplish square stems. Damp grasslands.

Flowers

Flowers in a spike, light reddish-pink, tubular, 2-lipped; upper lip hooded and nearly straight, lower lip wider with 3 shallow lobes, 4 prominent stamens.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Long, pointed, serrated, dense, opposite each other on the stem. Upper leaves bend upwards, lower leaves bend downwards.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: hairy.
