Description

Open woodland, garrigue.

A tuberous perennial, using enlarged underground structures as storage organs for nutrients.

Flowers

The sepals and petals are the same size, oval-shaped and pointed, together they form a reddish-purple hood. The lip is 3-lobed, the central lobe being the largest, white with purple splotches and a short conical spur, 1-2 mm.

Leaves

Elliptic oval leaf, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Basal: oval to long, wider in the middle, pointed.
Upper: stem leaves smaller, often with small purple spots.
