Description
The seeds of this plant resemble those of Capsella bursa-pastoris (Shepherd’s purse), but on closer examination the height, shape of the leaves and colour of the leaves are very different.
Grows in sparsely vegetated habitats, open pastures, old quarries, broken rocks, along railway lines on calcareous soils.
Flowers
The flowers are tiny, 4 petals and 4 sepals with 6 yellow stamens.
Leaves
Perfoliate leaf stem on the flat underside of the leaf, and appears to pass through the leafto pass through the leaf, Elliptic oval leaf, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Lower: entire or slightly serrated with stalks.
Upper: encircle the stem, greyish-green, oval to long, pointed.
Fruits Seeds
Silique: a flat, heart-shaped seed pod that splits open when mature.
