Description
Mint-and-apple scented. A hairy perennial on leafy creeping and erect stems, branched.
Damp ground that often dries out in summer.
Flowers
The flowers, white to pink, are borne in spikes, 3-6 cm.
Leaves
Elliptic oval leaf. Oval to round, wrinkled, serrated without stalks, light green above, white downy beneath, 4-5 cm.
Fruits Seeds
Nut: 1-4 small nuts that do not split open when ripe, enclosed within the calyx.
Edible
Leaves: many culinary uses with meat, fish, egg, fruit dishes, jellies, hot and cold beverages, sauces and vinegar.
