Description

Hairless plant. The stems are erect or ascending, branched at the base. Linum bienne is thought to be a possible wild ancestor of the cultivated flax.

Rocky ground, garrigue, marshy ground, fields and open woodland.

Flowers

The flowers are pale-blue or lilac-blue in lax clusters, petals streaked with a darker blue.

Leaves

Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Linear to long, wider in the middle, pointed, 15-25 mm.
