Description

Greyish-green, rather delicate annual. The stems are erect, generally unbranched.

Fields, dry and waste places.

Flowers

The flowers are purplish-violet, two-lipped with a spur (5-9 mm), the upper lip is larger than the lower one. The lower lip has two pale or whitish coloured bosses.

Leaves

Whorled cluster of leaves encircle the stem, Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. Basal leaves: cluster of leaves circling the stem at the same height, linear, erect, pointed.
Upper leaves: alternate on the stem.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: containing 4 small nuts.
