Description

This attractive native plant grows in light woodlands on calcareous soil. It is not a bulb but a corm, a rounded underground storage organ consisting of a swollen stem base covered with scale leaves. The green stems can be flushed with purple or red.

Flowers

The flowers are scented with reflexed petals, borne on long spikes along the stem. They can be white or pink to deep purple.

Leaves

Whorled cluster of leaves encircle the stem, Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle, Eliiptic{end-tooltip}. A cluster of 4-12 leaves encircling the stem at the same height; each leaf is long and pointed, 16 cm.
