Description
An attractive grass, used in dried flower arrangements. Since pollination occurs through dispersal of the seeds by wind, the plant requires no petals to attract insects.
Coastal vegetation and sand dunes, grassy woodlands, grasslands.
Flowers
The resemblance of the flower stalk to a hare’s tail has led to the French and English common names.
Leaves
Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. Blade, linear to long, wider in the middle, pointed, soft, hairy, 1 cm wide, 2-3 cm long.
Fruits Seeds
Caryopsis: a dry fruit, grain.
