Description
Hairy perennial, erect, branched at the top, without underground stolons. Grows in rocky, grassy habitats, roadsides, hillsides and meadows.
Flowers
The pinkish-violet flowers are dome-shaped with pink stamens. The calyx is like a cup, each with normally 8-10 bristly hairs (awns).
Leaves
Pinnate row of leaflets on either side of the stem. Basal rosette: leaves often undivided. Upper leaves: with linear to lanceolate toothed segments, sturdy.
Fruits Seeds
Nut: cylindrical.
