Description

There are several Filago varieties, sometimes hard to distinguish between them. Dry grassy places.

The plant is white/woolly in texture and appearance and at first glance it could be confused with a young Helichrysum, hence the common French name for it ‘Immortelle d’Allemagne’.

Flowers

The spiky, terminal, dense flowerheads have only disk flowers, not very noticeable.

Leaves

Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. Mostly at the base, stem leaves stalkless and narrow, tapering to the stem.

Fruits Seeds

Achene: a cluster of 1-seeded fruit with white hairs.
