Description

The fruit when ripe, bursts open, dispersing grains covered in a sticky substance to 2 m or more.

On waste and fallow land, sandy and stony ground, old walls and grassy places.

Flowers

Flower pale yellow, 5 pointed petals. Each petal has green stripes.

Leaves

Cordate heart-shaped, Deltate triangular leaf with stem on one side. Heart-shaped to triangular, undulated, hairy, rough and long-stalked.

Fruits Seeds

Pod: oblong, bristly, green turning yellow with age, up to 5 cm long.

Medical

Fruit: once used internally for oedema associated with kidney complaints, also for rheumatism; externally for sinusitis and painful joints.
