A common, sticky perennial found along the seashore as well as inland. It has an unpleasant smell.

In order to combat the olive fruit fly, Dittrichia viscosa has been introduced into olive groves as a biological method of control, having been found to be host to the predator of the olive fruit fly.

16 ray florets and 44 disk florets.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Narrow, pointed, undulated, serrated or not, sticky on both sides, margins rough to the touch.
