Description

When most plants have stopped flowering in winter, Diplotaxis erucoïdes is in full bloom. The rows between the vines are covered in white flowers especially in May and November, in mild weather it flowers throughout winter. A source of nectar for bees.

Flowers

Raceme of 4-petalled white flowers with 6 stamens and a style with a green stigma.

Leaves

Pinnately lobed leaf with lobes both sides of a central midrib. Deeply lobed, lobes are arranged on either side of the midrib, serrated, mid-green.

Fruits Seeds

Silique: two fused carpels, very narrow fruit pod, 2 rows of seeds.

Edible

Leaves and flowers: sharp, garlicky-tasting leaves, rich in sulphur.
