Description

A forest dweller on calcareous soil with a straight, smooth and leafy stem and a long flower stalk of pale yellow flowers, one-sided.

Flowers

The flowers have 2 lips, the upper lip is indented, the lower lip is divided into 3 lobes with long hairs, 15-20 mm long, 6-7 mm wide.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Oblong to lanceolate, pointed, serrated, alternately arranged on the stem.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: splits open when ripe.

Medical

The leaves of Digitalis lutea contain cardioactive glycosides, but are seldom used.
