Description

There are more than 90 species of Crocus, growing in woodland, scrub and meadows, from sea level to alpine tundra in Central and Southern Europe. Crocus versicolor is native to our region.

Flowers

The goblet-shaped flowers, 6 tepals, with 3 orange stamens, taper off into a narrow tube. The colour varies from lilac, mauve to white.

Leaves

Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. Basal leaves: sword-shaped.
