Description

Previously under the name Anthemis tinctoria. A loosely spreading, aromatic plant with bright green foliage.

Generally in dry habitats, cultivated or waste land, scrub, roadsides.

In the past it was used to dye fabrics. The colour obtained ranged from yellow, buff-yellow to golden orange.

Flowers

Flowers have bright yellow ray florets and slightly darker disk florets.

Leaves

Bipinnate leaflets on either side of the stem, each leaflet is further subdivided. The leaflets are finely lobed, the underside of the leaves are whitish.

Fruits Seeds

Achene: a cluster of small dry, 1-seeded, almost cylindrical fruit.
