Description

The plant starts flowering early in the year, around the end of February, on cliffs or scrubland.

The common name ‘Scorpion Vetch’ derives from the shape of the long segmented seed pods.

Flowers

The flowers are very fragrant forming a circle, giving rise to the name Coronilla, meaning ‘small crown’.

Leaves

Pinnate row of leaflets on either side of the stem. 2 to 6 pairs of leaflets on either side of the stem. Oval in shape, notched at the tip, often greyish-blue beneath.

Fruits Seeds

Pods: 3-7 bulging segments, 1-5 cm long.
