Description
Also known as Hippocrepis emerus. A dense shrub with green branches.
Open woodland, woodland margins, shaded cliffs and scrubland.
Flowers
The long-stalked yellow pea flowers grow in clusters of 1-5.
Leaves
Pinnate row of leaflets on either side of the stem. 5-9 leaflets on either side of the stem, wider above the middle.
Fruits Seeds
Pod: segmented into 3-12 parts, 5-11 cm long.
Medical
Leaves: used as a purgative, an alternative to Senna leaves.
