Description
Annual or biennial. The flower bracts are spine-tipped. Rocky and stony habitats, pine woodland, waste places.
Flowers
Flowers are tiny, pink to purple, with purple anthersupper fertile part of the stamen containing the pollen, in clusters on the end of the stalk.
Leaves
Pinnatisect leaf is deeply lobed, almost to the central midrib. Lobes almost to central midrib, with a large terminal lobe at the tip of the leaf.
Fruits Seeds
Achene: a cluster of small, 1-seeded fruit with feathery hairs.
