Description
A deciduous, flowering tree; dramatic in the size of its leaves and in the shape and markings of its flowers.
Flowers
The flowers sit on the branches in conical clusters, appearing after the leaves. The petals are quite large, with purple speckles.
Leaves
Deltate triangular leaf with stem on one side. Triangular, on long stalks with a pointed tip. The leaves are positioned opposite each other, 10-25 cm long, 8-15 cm wide.
Fruits Seeds
Pod: 20-40 cm long, remains on the tree till spring.
