Description

Common Box is an evergreen shrub or small tree. The wood is very hard and used in printing blocks, tool handles and mallet heads.
The leaves are rich in nitrogen and in former times were used by farmers to enrich the soil.
Very hardy. Used in hedging.

The flowers are inconspicuous, greenish-yellow, in small clusters of 5-7 mm.
