Unlike many other ferns it requires very little water and tends to grow in a sunny position in the cracks of alkaline rocks.

Leaves

Pinnatisect leaf is deeply lobed, almost to the central midrib. Fronds: pinnately divided almost to central midrib, leathery.

Fruits Seeds

Sori: a cluster of spores, linear in shape, visible on the underside of the leaf.
