Description

A moist and shade-loving plant. The leaves appear in autumn. The following spring the spathe emerges, pale yellowish white, green inside. The berries appear in summer and are poisonous.

A tuberous perennial.

Flowers

An erect finger-like spadix covered in minute creamy white flowers, partially covered by a light green spathe.

Leaves

Sagittate arrow-head shaped leaf with downward lobes. Arrowhead with diverging lobes and white to creamy veins.

A subspecies of Arum italicum, Arum italicum ssp. neglectum (final image), has plain green leaves with basal leaves converging, sometimes overlapping, sometimes with blotches.

Fruits Seeds

Spike with berries, 10-15 cm long.
