Flowers

Flowers are borne in a cone-shaped spike, maturing into a more cylindrical shape. They can vary in size and shape of inflorescence, i.e. shape of lip, spur length and flower colour. The sepals and petals are bright pink, with a very slender, long spur from which the butterflies drink the nectar. More intensely coloured flowers at higher altitudes.

Leaves

Lanceolate leaf is lance-shaped: long and widest in the middle. Long, pointed, channelled, upper leaves bract-like. Leaves virtually invisible at the time of flowering.

Fruits Seeds

Capsule: with numerous tiny seeds.
