Description
Evergreen, introduced into France from Australia in 19th century. It has become invasive in certain areas, the tree prevents other plants from growing underneath. The principal winter flowering species are Acacia bailyeana and Acacia dealbata.
The flowers are used in the Grasse perfumery industry. Under the common name, ‘Mimosa’, bouquets of fresh flowers are exported to countries all over Europe.
Flowers
The small, round, pale to deep yellow flowers form large terminal clusters.

Bipinnate leaflets on either side of the stem, each leaflet is further subdivided. Leaflets on either side of the stem, each leaflet is further subdivided, grey-green to silvery in colour
Fruits Seeds
Pod: flattened, long and slender, 4-10 cm long.
